wayyy overdue.

haven’t been updating for the past TWO months. that’s how busy i was during practicum aye. not to mention how lazy i’ve been since practicum ended. thank god i got a credit for practicum, despite some initial difficulties. my kids were a lovable bunch, colleagues were helpful and my time there was simply fantastic. whatever others have to say, i’d say can it. things will work their way out, somehow.

honestly, i can’t wait to get back to school – no longer as a student or trainee teacher. now i’ll be going back as a full-fledged trained teacher. makes a big difference. heh.

so here’s to a long and meaningful career in education for me..

three weeks down

three weeks went by so fast, too fast that i barely took the time to breathe. but hey, i am doing pretty okay. i mean, i live ten minutes away from school, i have pretty nice students, helpful and friendly colleagues, a firm yet supportive p. and contrary to all the horror stories that everyone has been telling me about the school, the kids are really a-okay! what more can i ask for?

the one week break is really a good chance to prepare for the battle that will begin on the 21st. 10 observations here we go! shall make good use of the week to mark my mountain of essays and prepare tons of lesson plans which will hopefully be executable. i’m gonna work hard and do a good job, make sure that i prove some people wrong.

going for ncc trainings really remind me of why i decided to teach. in fact, i think ncc has made me the way i am today. which is both good and bad i guess. but that’s besides the point. teaching the part As how to season their berets, fold their smart four, tuck in their pants.. deja vu man. just 7 years ago i was a cadet, teaching my juniors. now 7 years on, the boys were calling me ma’am and i’m a teacher. i hope i get to serve the cca that made me the way i am, when i come back for good. (:

 

RIDICULOUS

If I could use a metaphor, does it mean that when I am assigned the responsibility to be a form teacher in future, I do not spend time to observe my students and subsequently get them to write their own testimonials? Then I consult my class chairpersons, who might not give very objective views about the other students. Wouldn’t that make the testimonial worthless for the student, since there really isn’t any value added to the testimonial?

 

it’s sad when things come to that. teachers as role models. noted.

last minutes of 2010

so one more year has passed, and boy was it an epic year. graduation, first job, nie, car, financial stability, peace, love. what more can a girl ask for? a cakeboss cake perhaps? hahaz. okay too much cake boss. it’s been a great year and i truly enjoyed it. now here’s to another great year ahead, with more challenges and achievements.

i wish i could kiss you at the stroke of midnight, but duty calls. so let’s make up for it tmr.

HOLIDAYS!

school’s been out for a week now, although today is technically the last day of the semester. it’s so nice sleeping in when it’s raining, and not waking up early to travel all the way to the other end of the island. what a pity it’s only for two weeks.

unfortunately, the holidays are spoilt by the assignment that is due the first week back at school and the never-ending gesl project. spoiler. i guess i should get them over and done with asap so that i can enjoy myself more.

just one last deadline

and that’s on 17th dec. about 2 weeks to go. heh. but everyone’s in such a holiday mood, it’s gonna be difficult to get back to work. but considering that it’s the one sole assignment we have left, and given the looong time we have to prepare, it can’t be a crappy piece right? right.

FINALLY the bulk of assignments are over. thank God. microteaching today went terribly. i thought i was too strict and firm with my classmates. but that’s my teaching style, especially since i’ve been teaching monkeys. and i thought it was supposed to be peer teaching and evaluation, not peer criticism. that bugger’s comments were so uncalled for, and if not for the fact that it was my presentation that i was being assessed for, i would have smacked his face. like hello you’re supposed to be a STUDENT here so just shush la. walao. he had to ask bloody annoying questions. and i guess it was obvious to everyone that the hatred is mutual. i  hope i don’t get marked down thanks to the bugger.

you want to be mean, fine. it’s not like i need your feedback. let’s see what happens when you present.

 

spoiler know. i just wanted to celebrate the fact that after today we’re just left with 2 assignments before the break. but NOOOOO. SOMEBODY had to spoil my day. iHATE.

this is a must-watch for teachers who think their students are monsters.

so glad that two BEEG projects are down. and boy, am i SOOO proud of them. i never realized how much i love the use of technology until nie. heh. designing a webquest and brochure of sorts can be fun and therapeutic, at least it beats squeezing my brains trying to smoke a rationale for using a certain source for SBQ. heh.
